Prairie Folk Songwriter
Deborah Romeyn is one of Manitoba’s most prolific songwriters. With six recording projects to her credit and a seventh on the way she has achieved recognition here at home and a loyal following of fans. Having had her popular song, "Nothing Like the Freedom" played on the space shuttle, it is quite possible her audience spans the galaxy.
Encouraged personally by such artists as Anne Murray, Heather Bishop, Connie Kaldor, The Wyrd Sisters, and the powerful women’s music movement, Deborah’s writing and performance style has a rich and varied history.
Many of her recordings have been chosen as top ten albums by reviewers at Australia’s popular Rhythm and Roots magazine. Her work has also been featured on two Manitoba Music compilations, an Interlake Allstars project, is on regular play lists at CBC, and worldwide through Radio Play.
Whether you have seen Deborah at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Thompson Folk Festival, Crankie Fest, the Back Forty, with Rainbow Harmony Project as guest performer or at a myriad of house concerts, you will know she is a compelling and engaging performer.
Deborah’s music fits every venue, from small intimate house concerts, to large performance venues. She engages each listener, both on her own, or playing with other musicians. Although Deborah is an infrequent performer, her shows are SOLD OUT when they are available. That says something!
